Living in Bombay on your own without flatmates and not exactly near to the office, can be expensive. I am considering alternative careers. An auto rickshaw driver for example. The one I drove me to office today lives a much better standard of living. He doesn't have to bother getting wet in the rain on the way to work, while I had to face the ferocious rain today morning while I walked to the main road. His workplace, meanwhile, sits right outside his house. Moreover, it obliges if he decides he needs a change of view from the work desk. He put his legs up and sleeps after a heavy lunch. His work timings are flexible. His workplace has a CD music system (something I don't right now). I might even start liking Himesh. If there is a cricket match, he can take half a day off and relax in front of the idiot box. In any case, he can hear the commentary live on his radio, without worrying about office protocol. He doesn't worry about the Internet being down. When the gas pumps are on strike, its a holiday for him.
Hmm...
I need a HOLIDAY!

Don't we all buddy!
But personally i hate the auto choots. Have no traffic sense these idiots. But I guess U know that by now. All it takes is a day in apna Mumbai. Eh?
N ya, was contemplating becoming a bus driver once. Jus so that i cud roam around the badda desh ;)
Here's to honest meters, n that holiday!
well... as for the condition of the rickshawallas, there are some for whom the ricks are all they have. they spend nights in that little thing. so... the scenario isn't exactly how it seems. but i understand your frustration too, perhaps, kunal.
i totally sympathize with dob... the rickshawallas are enemies of smooth traffic. ekdum dimaag ko shot. also, it's no easy being a b.e.s.t. driver... at least in mumbai. the so to say sharp turns and ultra narrow lanes must be any driver's nightmare. or maybe dream, if he likes challenges.
hehehe. you'll get one. soon.
dob, manila...i agree to the autowallahs not having a sense of traffic but i cant hate them simply cos they make my life here manageable without private vehicles...can you imagine how screwed up our roads would be if everyone chose their own bike / cars!!
as part of an assignment way back in architecture school we'd studied these three wheelers and some findings shocked us...for example, given its size, it has a very low accident rate...also, it is a most beautiful piece of engineering design to be able to take as much weight on 3 wheels...i remember, to test this out, my gang had taken a short trip of about 2 kms in one such machine...no less than 13 of us...some with just a foot on the vehicle and the rest of the body hanging out...
haha.....why is grass always greener and the ride always more fun on the other side ??
